— THE PLACE · CHARLEVOIX, QUÉBEC —

In the heart of Charlevoix, miles from the noise.

Set on the heights of La Malbaie, above the river. A boreal forest, headlands, light that shifts by the hour - and silence, everywhere.

— THE SETTING —

Far from the road,
close to what matters.

Le Hamac sits on the forest’s edge, in the heights of La Malbaie. Far enough to no longer hear Route 138, close enough to fetch the morning’s fresh bread.

Charlevoix is an impact crater turned garden: round mountains plunging into the St. Lawrence, villages clinging to the headlands, a seaside light reaching inland. Recognised as a UNESCO world biosphere reserve, the region is crossed slowly - the only way to truly see it.

The view
Three semi-detached cabins

One same view of the mountain.

Set in a row facing the mountain, this architectural signature lets each cabin enjoy the splendid view of Mont Grand-Fonds. Outside, every terrace has a privacy wall, creating a small cocoon to savour the open air in privacy.

  • Each has its own entrance
  • Each has its own terrace

The river
The call of the St. Lawrence

The river, just minutes away.

A few minutes’ drive away lies the river. Whether to watch it change colour with the day and the tides, or for your seafaring escapes, it awaits you. After filling up on salt air, return to the comfort of a hammock or your terrace.

  • The shore a 10-minute drive away
  • Belugas to spot in season, with a bit of luck
  • Grand sunsets nearby

The trails
The boreal forest, all around

The Charlevoix trails start close by.

Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at Mont Grand-Fonds, forest walks, snowmobile and ATV trails easily accessible nearby. You head out in the morning, and come back for the fire.

— THE YEAR —

Four seasons.
Each one is the right one.

The territory never rests. It changes its robe, its light, its sound - and each season has its reason to come and linger.

spring

The geese return by the thousands. The ground breathes, the sap rises. You leave the windows open.

summer

Evenings by the outdoor fire, swims in the river, light until ten at night. The great season of the outdoors.

autumn

The headlands turn deep red. Coffee lingers on the terrace, a blanket over your knees.

winter

Snowshoes, a fire kept going, snow that blankets nature. Our favourite season, secretly.

The cabins are heated and accessible in every season.

— TO DO —

It’s all here.
Yours to set the pace.

Some days will be full of adventure, others of rest - both have their place here. Enough to fill a week, or do nothing at all.

  • The hammock, of course

Swaying between two spruces, a book on your belly. The first activity - and often the only one you remember.

    year-round
  • The fire, come evening

Light the outdoor fire, bring out the blankets, watch the embers. The evening plan, every evening.

    year-round
  • Counting the stars

Far from the city lights, the sky lights back up. Lying on the terrace, you wait for the first shooting star.

    clear sky
  • Snowshoeing and forest

From the first snowfall, the surrounding forest lends itself to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

    winter
  • The Comporté river

The water is clear and cool. Let it run over your feet, take a quick dip, or cast a line. You may not catch your supper, but you never know: there’s trout!
